Anti-Slavery Policy
Last updated 19 October 2026.
Our position
Admiral Roofing Specialists Limited, company number 11701881, trading as Admiral Roofing Specialists, of 46 St Marys Close, Hessle, East Yorkshire, HU13 0HJ, opposes modern slavery and human trafficking. We will not tolerate either in our own work or in work done for us.
This policy is published so that customers, householders, workers and suppliers can read how the firm conducts itself, and so that a person with a concern knows where to take it. It applies to the directors and to anyone working on a job for the firm.
The law
The Modern Slavery Act 2015 makes it an offence to hold a person in slavery, servitude or forced or compulsory labour, or to arrange or facilitate the travel of a person with a view to their exploitation. Exploitation includes forced labour and the commission of an offence.
Section 54 of that Act requires a commercial organisation that supplies goods or services, and that has a total turnover of £36 million or more, to publish an annual slavery and human trafficking statement. This page is the firm’s policy. It is not held out as a statement published under section 54 unless that turnover threshold applies to us in the year in question. We do not state a turnover figure on this website.
We also have regard to the duty, in ordinary criminal law and in the way we contract, not to commit or condone those offences. A smaller firm is not free of the criminal law because section 54 does not require it to publish a statement.
Who this covers
This policy covers Admiral Roofing Specialists Limited and the work carried out in its name from 46 St Marys Close, Hessle. It covers employees, directors, labour-only subcontractors, and anyone else sent to a job by us. It is also the document a customer, a neighbour, a supplier or a worker can use to raise a concern, whether or not they have a contract with us.
What we will not do
We will not use, and we will not knowingly take the benefit of:
- slavery, servitude, or forced or compulsory labour;
- bonded labour, including labour tied to a debt that the person cannot realistically repay;
- human trafficking, or the movement of a person into work by deception, threat or abuse of vulnerability;
- child labour. We will not give roofing work to anyone under 18. Roofing is hazardous work, and it is not given to a child or to a young person under that age;
- the retention of a person’s passport, identity papers or bank card as a condition of work;
- payment below the minimum the law requires for that work, or a deduction that takes pay below that minimum except a deduction the law allows.
A person working with us must be free to leave the work in accordance with the law, must be paid for the work they do, and must be able to raise a problem without being punished for raising it. We expect anyone working on a job to have the right to work in the United Kingdom.
Suppliers and labour
We buy roofing materials from trade suppliers. We expect those suppliers, and anyone working on a job with us, to meet the standard in this policy. We do not claim on this page to have audited every supplier. We do say that modern slavery is a reason to stop using a supplier or a worker, and a reason to report what we know.
If we engage labour, we will not do so through a person who withholds wages, withholds identity documents, or charges a worker a fee for the job that leaves them in debt bondage. If we are told that this is happening, we will treat it as a concern under this policy and not as a private dispute to be ignored.
Raising a concern
If you are worried about the way a person connected with our work is being treated, contact the firm at info@admiralroofingservices.co.uk or 01482 627895. You do not have to be a customer. You do not have to give your name, although an anonymous report can be harder to act on. Please tell us what you saw, where, and when, and whether anyone is in immediate danger.
You can also contact the Modern Slavery Helpline on 08000 121 700, or through modernslaveryhelpline.org. The helpline is independent of this firm. You can contact the police on 101. If a person is in immediate danger, call 999.
Workers may also raise a concern about wrongdoing under the Public Interest Disclosure Act 1998 where that Act protects them. This policy does not take that protection away, and it does not require a worker to report to us before reporting to the helpline or to the police.
What we will do
We will take a concern seriously. We will limit it to the people who need to know in order to look into it and to protect the person affected. We will not retaliate against a person who raises a concern in good faith, and we will not allow a supplier or a worker to retaliate on our job.
A report made in good faith will not be treated as a breach of confidence by the person who made it. A report that we find was made knowing it to be false is a different matter, and may be passed to the person wrongly accused.
Where the concern indicates that an offence may have been committed, we will pass what we know to the police or to the Modern Slavery Helpline, and we will stop using the supplier or the labour involved while that is looked into. We will not tip off a person accused of an offence if doing so would put someone at risk or would prejudice an investigation.
We will co-operate with the police, and with the NFRC or TrustMark if the concern is also a matter for those bodies. Our TrustMark licence number is 226834. Our NFRC member profile is published by the NFRC.
Review
The directors are responsible for this policy. It is reviewed when the way we take on labour or suppliers changes, and at least once a year. The date at the top of this page is the date of the current version.
A question about this policy, as distinct from an urgent concern, can be sent to info@admiralroofingservices.co.uk.
