In plain terms
Stacks and ridges
The ridge and the chimney take the weather before the rest of the roof. Ridge tiles that rock, and mortar missing from a stack, let water into the top of the house while the tiles still look tidy from the street. A damp patch at the top of a chimney breast is often this, or the lead where the stack meets the tiles.
We rake out loose mortar rather than smearing a coat over it. Ridges are rebedded, or dry-fixed where the covering allows it. The stack is repointed, the pots are flaunched, and the flashing is checked. If a stack is unsafe, we say so before any work starts.
We do this from Hessle, across Hull, Beverley, Anlaby and Anlaby Common, Willerby, Woodmansey and the villages in between. Call 01482 627895 or use the form further down. We look at the roof before we price it. A written quote is available if you want one, and the work we agree is guaranteed for at least 12 months, and often for longer depending on the job.
